Connections

What does an integration actually let the agent do?

An app name or logo can suggest a possible workflow. It does not establish that an account is connected, that an action is authorized, or that a business result is complete.

A working example

A reservation change tests the connection's limits

A caller asks to change a reservation. The agent may know the business's change policy, may be able to read the existing record, or may be permitted to write a change. If the connection only supports reading, the correct outcome is a request for staff, not a confirmed change.

Describe each connection by the exact account, action, permission, and observed result—not by the vendor name alone.

Separate information, reading, and writing

An information-only setup answers from reviewed business material and can collect a message. A read action retrieves current data from an authorized system, such as availability or an existing status. A write action changes a record or creates one, subject to that system's rules. Each step brings different access needs and different failure cases.

A write request sent to a provider is not automatically a finished customer outcome. The provider's response and, where relevant, the resulting record must be checked. A notification accepted for delivery is also distinct from a staff member acting on it.

  • Information-only: no claim of a live account lookup or reservation.
  • Read: identify the source and how current the returned data is.
  • Write: confirm authorization, accepted response, and downstream state.

Review the customer's specific account

Check the provider, plan, permissions, API capabilities, and business rules for the exact account. Decide what the agent may read, create, change, or never touch. Volimox handles configuration after the customer authorizes the needed access and the action is agreed.

The Volimox app directory describes potential workflows to discuss. It is not a certification that every listed app has a ready, production connection or that every example action is supported for your account.

Plan for an unavailable or uncertain connection

If a lookup fails, the assistant should not present old or guessed information as current. If a write returns an uncertain result, the workflow needs a safe way to check whether the change happened before retrying. If the action cannot be completed, say what was captured, who will review it, and what the caller should expect next.

Before a customer launch, review a normal action, a denied permission, a provider timeout, duplicate submission, and a human correction. Record what each state looks like to the caller and to the staff member.

Questions to bring to the conversation

  1. 01Name the exact account and system that owns each record.
  2. 02List each required read and write action separately.
  3. 03Verify permission and provider support for those actions.
  4. 04Define what evidence makes the action accepted or complete.
  5. 05Test denial, timeout, duplicate, and manual correction paths.

Common questions

Clear answers before a pilot

Does an app logo mean Volimox already has access to our account?

No. Your account access and the actions it supports must be reviewed and authorized.

If the agent can read availability, can it book?

Not necessarily. Reading and creating a reservation are separate capabilities with different permissions and confirmation requirements.

Is a successful API response the same as customer acceptance?

It proves only what that response says. A customer-facing completion claim may also require checking the resulting record or a later business step.

What happens if the provider is unavailable?

The workflow should use the agreed fallback, such as a pending request for staff, and avoid promising that an unverified action occurred.
